Maintenance: Frequently Asked Questions
Do I purchase maintenance for all of my Tech4Learning software at once or for individual software titles?
Maintenance is purchased per software title. You can choose to have maintenance on some or all of your Tech4Learning products.
Is purchasing maintenance a good value?
Yes. Even if you purchase maintenance for a year in which there is no upgrade, you will save money over time. For example, at current prices, maintenance for 500 licenses is $3.50 per license, while upgrades are $12.00 per license. Assuming an upgrade is released every two years, the cost for two years of maintenance is only $7.00 per license. Over four years, the total cost for maintenance would be $14.00 per license and would net two upgrades. Paying for those two upgrades would have cost $24.00 per license. This is a savings of 42%!

Does maintenance have to be purchased at the time of the software purchase?
Yes, maintenance needs to be purchased at the time of the initial software purchase or product upgrade. Maintenance should be renewed prior to the expiration of the current maintenance term.
Does maintenance have to remain in force, or can it be renewed after expiration?
Maintenance must remain in force in order to continue receiving software upgrades. If maintenance lapses, it is possible to pay a reinstatement fee. Contact you regional account representative for details.

Can I purchase maintenance for some of my licenses but not all of them?
Maintenance must be purchased for all licenses covered under a license agreement with one registration code. If you want to purchase maintenance for only some licenses, we must issue new license agreements for the licenses not covered by maintenance. Dividing licenses is only allowed if all of the licenses not covered by maintenance are at a physical location different from the licenses covered by maintenance.

Can my school purchase maintenance for software purchased under a district license?
If you are a school purchasing under a district license and wish to purchase maintenance for your site even though the district is not purchasing maintenance, contact Tech4Learning and we will issue your school a separate license number. You will still be able to take advantage of the cumulative volume licensing of your district.

What happens if I have maintenance for all my licenses, and I later purchase additional licenses?
If you purchase additional licenses, you can purchase pro-rated maintenance so that all of your licenses are covered under one maintenance agreement with a single expiration date.
What happens if my maintenance expires after an upgrade, but I have not yet installed the upgrade?
You are licensed to be running the latest version of the software at the time your maintenance expires. You will be able to download the installer from our web site and install it using the serial number that was issued to you when the upgrade was released.
