Creating Original Illustrations with Twist

Participants will explore features in Twist, such as shapes, nodes, and fills, to create their own unique artwork. Online resources will be explored that will help participants successfully integrate this drawing tool into their classroom.

This workshop is designed for educators working with students in grades 3-12.

Goal
Learn how students can transform curriculum objectives into beautiful illustrations.

Outcomes

• brainstorm project ideas that meet curriculum goals
• learn to integrate illustrations into multimedia projects
• use drawing to promote higher-order thinking skills
• leave ready to integrate Twist immediately

Software Skills
Participants will gain experience creating original illustrations with Twist, learning how to:

• use grids and nodes to create and draw shapes.
• change curves, resize shapes, and adjust gradients.
• adjust the opacity of fills, strokes, and gradient colors.
• preview images for file size and quality before you export.

Timeline
This one-day workshop runs for approximately six hours. During the morning, participants will view project ideas and learn the basics of drawing with Twist. In the afternoon, they work in collaborative groups brainstorming ideas and creating useful classroom projects. The day ends with ideas for integration and strategies for implementation.
