Linux Installation Information 
 

Tech4Learning software for Linux is available via our online software repository. Currently, Pixie, Frames, and Share (as well as WebBlender for customers who have not upgraded to Share) are available for Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, and Fedora Core.

Use the following information to add the Tech4Learning software repository. You can use the repository to evaluate software, install software you have purchased, and check for updates.

SUSE Installation Information

To add the Tech4Learning Repository:

- Open the "Computer" menu on toolbar.
- Select "Control Center".
- Select "Open Administrator Settings".
- Select "Software/Software Repositories".
- Select "Add".
- Select "Specify URL".
- Select "Next".
- For "Repository Name", type "Tech4Learning".
- For "URL", type:
http://repository.tech4learning.com/suse/
- Select "Next".
- Select "Finish".

To install software:

- Open the "Computer" menu from the toolbar.
- Select "Install Software".
- Search for "tech4learning" to see available packages.
- Mark the title(s) you want to install.
- Do not select any support packages; they will be installed if needed.

Note: If a Tech4Learning application will not launch on OpenSuse 11.x with KDE, install the package "libgnomeui" and any dependencies.

Fedora Core Installation Information

To add the Tech4Learning repository, create a file named t4l.repo in /etc/yum.repos.d and add the following text to the new file:
[t4l]
name=Tech4Learning
baseurl=http://repository.tech4learning.com/suse/
enabled=1
gpgcheck=0

You should now be able to add Tech4Learning software using the Add/Remove Software system utility.

Note: If the installer does not add a launcher to the Applications menu, you can create a launcher manually. Tech4Learning applications are installed into /usr/lib/tech4learning.

UBUNTU Installation Information

To add the Tech4Learning Repository:

- Open the "System" menu on the toolbar.
- Select "Software Sources".
- Select "Third Party Software" tab.
- Select "Add".
- For "APT line", use: deb http://repository.tech4learning.com/ubuntu/ /
- Select "Close".
- If prompted, select "Reload".

To install software:

- Open "System" menu from toolbar.
- Select "Synaptic Package Manager".
- Search for "tech4learning".
- Mark the title(s) you want to install.
- Do not select any support packages; they will be installed if needed.
