John McCain is a well respected Vietnam War veteran. He was born on August 29, 1936. His ancestors were in every war since the Revolutionary War. John decided to keep the tradition going. He found a talent for flying planes. He was an aircraft warrior in the Vietnam War. One of the aircraft carriers that his plane was on got bombed by a fellow ship's malfunction. His plane caught on fire and John McCain was forced to leap out of his plane. This did not stop McCain from flying planes. He was called upon a dangerous mission. During the mission, John McCain was shot down. In the crash, he broke his arm and his leg. Because of his injuries, he was captured. The Vietnam people tried to force information out of McCain, but, through all his torture, he kept the secrets. They tortured him for five years. When the war was over, the enemies finally let him go. He got back to America and was surprised at how much the world changed.
