Barack Hussein Obama was born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. When Barack turned 10, he went to live with his grandparents. His mom later died of cancer. After high school, Obama studied at Columbia University.
After college he moved to Chicago to help make poor neighborhoods better. He then went on to Harvard Law School where he was the first African American President of the Harvard Law Review.
He ran for senator in 1996 and served on the Senate for eight years.
He is the first African American presidential nominee for a major political party. If he wins, he will be the first African American President. Obama met Michelle Robinson (now Michelle Obama) in June of 1989. They had 2 kids, Natasha and Malia Ann.
