Developing Early Learning Foundations

Explore strategies for building early learning foundations with engaging activities and challenging projects. 

Participants will learn how to create Pixie Activities students can use to explore early literacy topics, math concepts, science processes, and social studies themes. They will also explore open-ended paint and storytelling projects that expand writing and critical thinking skills.

Goal
Learn how creativity and engagement can empower students to learn and create exciting meaningful classroom projects.

Outcomes

  • explore and develop activities that meet primary and elementary curriculum goals
  • learn how to apply visual literacy strategies into the curriculum
  • assess understanding through the manipulation of images and painting
  • leave ready to integrate Pixie successfully and immediately

Software Skills
Participants will gain experience with Pixie learning how to:

  • use a variety of paint tools to create original artwork,
  • use stickers to show understanding,
  • use and create customized activities,
  • apply visual effects to photographs,
  • share images through slide shows and online storybooks.

Timeline
This one-day workshop runs for approximately six hours. During the morning, participants explore classroom project ideas and learn basic Pixie skills. They spend the afternoon developing a sample Pixie project they can use with their students.
