Creating Original Illustrations with Twist

Learn how students can use a drawing program to demonstrate cross-curricular understandings and create original art.
Participants will explore features in Twist, such as shapes, nodes, and fills, to create their own unique artwork. Online resources will be explored that will help participants successfully integrate this drawing tool into their classroom.

Goal
Learn how students can transform curriculum objectives into beautiful illustrations.

Software Skills
Participants will gain experience creating original illustrations with Twist, learning how to:

  • use grids and nodes to create and draw shapes.
  • change curves, resize shapes, and adjust gradients.
  • adjust the opacity of fills, strokes, and gradient colors.
  • preview images for file size and quality before you export.

Timeline
This one-day workshop runs for approximately six hours. During the morning, participants will view project ideas and learn the basics of drawing with Twist. In the afternoon, they work in collaborative groups brainstorming ideas and creating useful classroom projects. The day ends with ideas for integration and strategies for implementation.

Requisite Skills
Basic operating system knowledge, comfort operating a mouse, and skill navigating the hard drive is required to participate in this workshop.
